We proudly present complete program of 28 feature films, 25 short films and 7 music documentaries from 27 countries for you to enjoy during the 8 festival days in Ormož and Ljutomer, along with screening schedule.
All the fans of fantastic films and divine wine are invited to the 16th edition of Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival, Slovenia's first and largest fantastic film festival. In the idyllic landscape of the region of Prlekija, eight days of festival events will take place from the 10th to the 12th July in Ormož and from the 14th to the 18th of July in Ljutomer.
Once again the audience will be able to enjoy the best current fantastic films and music documentaries in our competition programs – Vicious Cat for best feature film, Slak's Vicious Cat for best short film, Melies d'argent for best European fantastic short film (given by the Méliès International Festivals Federation), and Noisy Cat for best music documentary – as well as a special selection of classic films and genre milestones.
The Vicous Cat competition features 5 fierce films: psychological horror THE LODGE, English-speaking debut by Veronika Franz & Severin Fiala (the latter is also coming to visit), Hungarian black comedy COMRADE DRAKULICH by director Márk Bodzsár, disturbing US horror 1BR by David Marmor, Argentinian post-apocalyptic horror I AM TOXIC by Pablo Parés and our guest from 2015 Richard Stanley’s new supernatural horror COLOR OUT OF SPACE.

Among Slovenian films we present two crime films, political thriller ALL AGAINST ALL by Andrej Košak and neo-noir CORPORATION by Matej Nahtigal (with guests Tomi Matič and Marinko Prga), as well as sa pecial screening of 1991 dark comedy OPERATION CARTIER by Miran Zupanič (based on a novel by Miha Mazzini, who also wrote the screenplay and is coming for a visit) and a 30th anniversary screening of science fiction film THE JAILERS by Marjan Ciglič.
With a special open air screening we will honour the 40th anniversary of cult Serbian comedy WHO'S SINGIN' OVER THERE by Slobodan Šijan, this time in a new digitally restored version.
In our music documentary competition we present the Michael Gira / Swans documentary WHERE DOES A BODY END? by Marco Porsia, the film about the legendary Belgrade rock band Električni orgazam entitled ELECTRIC ORGASM FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS by Marija Vukić, portrait of the iconic vocalist of Croatian punk legends KUD Idijoti TUSTA by Andrej Korovljev, disturbing display of the life of leader of US shock rock band The Mentors EL DUCE TAPES by Ryan Sexton, David Lawrence and Rodney Ascher, short documentary about rock band Repetitor’s prison gig ROCK ‘N’ ROLL IN DISTRICT PRISON BELGRADE by Igor Čoko & Lea Vahrušev, BURE BARETA by Robert Bubalo, Mario Vukadin and Renato Tonković, an in-depth look into the mind of Croatian punk rock poet Goran Bare, and the world premiere of 70 YEARS OF ROCK'N'ROLL DOCTOR by Miroslav Čigoja, the story of ex-Yu rock legend Milić Vukašinović, leader of hard rock band Vatreni poljubac.
The short film competition program for the Slak's Vicious Cat award brings 9 films from all around the world, while a selection of 16 European short films will compete for the Melies d'argent award.
Our Enchanted Cinema section for children and youth offers Danish animation CIRCLEEN, COCO AND THE WILD RHINOCEROS by Jannik Hastrup, animated adventure THE BEARS' FAMOUS INVASION OF SICILY by Lorenzo Mattotti and art horror ZOMBI CHILD by Bertrand Bonello.
The main feature of our wine program is the Vicious Cat Wine Champion competition for best wine, this year featuring five wineries.
This year's amazing poster was once again created by Serbian illustrator and comic book artist Ivica Stevanović.
As usual, numerous workshops will take place: the traditional short film workshop Little Workshop of Horrors, screenwriting workshop mentored by acclaimed writer and author Miha Mazzini, the film criticism workshop “Ostrenje pogleda” by Maja Kranjc and Robert Kuret.
In Ljutomer we also offer free camping for all the festival visitors.
