Cynical fund manager Seok-woo is obsessed with his work, which cost him his marriage. Despite all this, he decides to take a trip to Busan by train with his daughter who wants to visit her mother. When zombie virus breaks out on the train, they will have to fight to survive.
After receiving high praise for his animated film Seoul Station, Sang-ho Zeon provided even more sensational thrills with this explosive, gory and relentless zombie spectacle. Apart from tons of grisly zombie action, the film is also built on interesting characters, while offering additional dash of social criticism. The film premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Its success garnered a sequel entitled Peninsula in 2020.
