Grossmann 2025 film program is online. The festival will take place from the 2nd to the 6th of July in Ljutomer. Detailed film program can be found here.
We proudly announce the arrival of Belgian genre auteur Fabrice du Welz, one of the most important, interesting and distinctive contemporary European filmmakers. He will present his new film, crime thriller Maldoror.
In our Vicious Cat competition, five fabulous films will compete for the Best Feature Film award:
The surrealist, darkly humourous drama Mr. K will take you into the world of a travelling magician who is unable to find his way out of a remote hotel, with the legendary Crispin Glover playing the titular character. Writer-director Tallulah H. Schwab will also be visiting.
A unique psychedelic experience will be provided by spy-action extravaganza Reflection in a Dead Diamond by cult directing duo Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani, who once again resurrect and reimagine European genre film of the 60s and the 70s. In accordance with this, the leading actor is Fabio Testi, legend of European cinema.
You will feel the need for sewing after watching comedy thriller Sew Torn, feature debut by writer-director Freddy Macdonald, where a seamstress uses thread, scissors and other accessories in countless incredibly imaginative ways to escape from danger.
Director Iman Tahsin’s anthology They Are Watching brings three creepy, darkly humorous stories: about a man who cannot cope with the death of his mother who brings a cat to her daughter and unleashes something supernatural, and about a couple who makes a wish for their cat to become a human child.
We will contemplate on the vastness of space in the moving sci-fi comedy U Are the Universe by director Pavlo Ostrikov, in which a space trucker, the only survivor from annihilated Earth, answers the call of a female meteorologist from a faraway space station.
You will also be able to enjoy numerous attractive titles out of competition. Argentinian horror master Nicolás Onetti will visit us with his new horror 1978, Croatian director Dražen Žarkovič will come and invite us on a summer island holiday with zombies in horror comedy Summer Teeth, Estonian director Sander Maran will introduce the screening of his explosive blend of comedy, horror, musical, action and love story Chainsaws Were Singing, old-school animation fans will enjoy the grotesque horror comedy Dog of God by Lithuanian directors Raitis & Lauris Abel, while Zoran Predin is coming to Ljutomer to introduce the screening of the Praslovan music documentary.
There will also be our short film and music documentary competition program (where director Gregor Bauman will visit us at the screening of his film 100dB Indust Bag), Black Mandala Marathon, films for children and youth and much more!
The program will feature some more updates, while the wine and accompanying program will be published soon. Besides workshops, there will of course also be the traditional Zombie Walk on Saturday, July 5th.
We also present the new festival poster, once again coming from the fascinating imagination of Ivica Stevanović.
