Tomaž Gorkič Master Class - Directing Genre Series in Slovenia

Even though Slovenia is not really known for genre production that could be defined as horror, thriller, or science fiction, some weird filmmakers (domestically known as village freaks) can still be found here, indulging in their tendency for gore, blood and mindless violence brought upon unsuspecting victims. Believe us, these bloodthirsty extremists are – fortunately - quite rare, and that's probably one of the reasons that Slovenia is still considered a safe and human-friendly land. But the times are changing, and for the last 25 years, there is a sinister individual infiltrating our screens. His name is Tomaž Gorkič and - under the banner of the suspiciously named 666 Productions - he makes violent, gory films, such as Idyll (2015) and The Curse of Valburga (2019), as well as numerous short films. He also received two Vicious Cats, one for short film Sandwich (2007) and one for Idyll (2015). This time around, he will present his new project, live-action TV series entitled The Monster Behind the Iron Curtain, coming to our screens in 2026. The series is allegedly based on the events regarding atrocities commited by Metod Trobec, the notorious serial killer. The author says he's been making it for more than 10 years.
