U Are The Universe

In the near future, Ukrainian space trucker Andriy makes a living by transporting nuclear waste to the abandoned Jupiter's moon Callisto. That is, until the Earth explodes. Is Andriy really the last person in the universe? It sure seems so, until he receives a call by Catherine, a French meteorologist, located at a faraway space station. Andriy decides to see her despite all the obstacles.

If you thought you were lonely during the pandemic, imagine being alone in the vastness of the universe, and what would you do for a bit of human contact. In his feature debut, partly made during wartime, director Pavlo Ostrikov takes on this dilemma by masterfully intertwining science fiction, sparkly humour, moving love story and existentialist drama. Don’t be ashamed if you get the feeling to hug someone after the viewing, just make sure you don’t show it!
