Sinbad embarks on a dangerous quest of finding the Fountain of Destiny after discovering a magical Golden Amulet. He is joined by a vizier and Margiana, a slave girl, and must battle the evil sorcerer Koura and several mythical creatures to unlock the amulet's powers before Koura can use them for evil.
After collaborating on The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad (1958) fifteen years ago, producer Schneer and special effects master Ray Harryhausen decided the time was ripe for a new film in the series based on the stories from One Thousand and One Nights. For Caroline Munro, this was the first major role in a film not made by Hammer production house. The Golden Voyage of Sinbad was a commercial success and the critics praised its superb stop-motion special effects. It also won the first Saturn award for the best fantasy film, presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.
