A delusional New York taxi driver, wanting to become a film director, visits the Cannes Festival where he starts stalking a beautiful horror film actress he is obsessed with. A series of murders occur, and all of the persons killed are linked to the actress who is being pursued by the taxi driver.
The Last Horror Film reunited Joe Spinell and Caroline Munro, who had previously starred together in William Lustig's Maniac (1980). The shooting of the film started on location at the Cannes Festival, initially without a permit which was provided later on during the filming. The Last Horror Film premiered at the Sitges festival, it gained attention because of its avant-garde approach. Upon its release, critics praised the film's original, inventive filmmaking while highlighting Joe Spinell’s intense performance. For years, The Last Horror Film has held the status of a cult classic amongst aficionados of the genre.
